How to Build These Words Into Your Writing
Memorising definitions isn't enough for IELTS Writing. You need to use these words naturally. Here are three strategies:
1. Sentence substitution practice. Take a simple sentence ("this is bad for society") and rewrite it using academic vocabulary ("this is detrimental to social cohesion").
2. Reading exposure. Read one IELTS practice passage per day and highlight every word from this list. The more times you see a word in context, the faster it becomes automatic.
3. Spaced repetition with example sentences. Create flashcards that show the word and its example sentence. When you review, try to use the word in a new sentence before checking the back.
