FSRS uses a machine-learning model trained on millions of real review sessions to predict exactly when you're about to forget a card and schedule it right before that moment. In practice this means 10–20% fewer reviews needed to reach the same retention rate compared to SM-2.

What do the four study buttons (Again / Hard / Good / Easy) mean?

• Again — You completely forgot or got it wrong. The card resets and will reappear very soon.
• Hard — You remembered it, but it was a struggle. The next interval is slightly shorter than optimal.

• Easy — Perfect, effortless recall. The next interval is much longer.

Honest self-assessment is important — if you click "Easy" for everything, Voccle can't schedule cards optimally.

Why do I see more cards scheduled for tomorrow after I finish a session?

Cards rated "Again" (forgotten) enter a short-term re-learning cycle and will be due again soon. Cards rated "Good" or "Easy" are scheduled weeks or months out. The review count shown is the total due within the next 24 hours — it's normal for this number to stay non-zero as new cards mature through their early learning stages.

How does the daily study limit work?

Each deck has a configurable daily limit (default: 20 new cards + 200 reviews per day). This prevents you from being overwhelmed when you import a large deck. You can adjust the limits in the deck settings. Completing your daily quota is more effective than cramming a large number in one session.

What is the streak counter?

Your streak counts consecutive days on which you completed at least one study session. Maintaining a streak is a powerful motivator. If you miss a day, the streak resets to zero — but your cards and learning progress are never lost.

Unlimited. Free accounts have no cap on the number of decks or flashcards. Create as many as you need for different languages, topics, or courses.

For sustainable long-term learning, 10–20 new cards per day is ideal for most people. Reviewing 50–150 mature cards per day is manageable. Quality beats quantity: it's far better to study 20 cards with full attention every day than to cram 200 cards once a week. Consistency is the single biggest predictor of vocabulary retention.

I'm seeing the same card again immediately after rating it "Again." Is that a bug?

No, this is intended. Cards in the "learning" state (new or forgotten cards) cycle through the queue multiple times in the same session until you demonstrate stable recall. Once a card is rated "Good" or "Easy" twice in a row, it graduates to the "review" state and won't appear until its scheduled review date.

Is there a limit to how much text I can paste for extraction?

The extract function works best with articles or passages of 200–2000 words. Very short inputs produce fewer vocabulary words. Very long inputs (5000+ words) are supported but the AI may take longer and will focus on the most important vocabulary rather than every unknown word. For very long texts, we recommend splitting them into sections.

This usually happens after a period of not studying. The fastest way to reduce a large backlog is to temporarily focus on reviews only (not adding new cards) and be honest with your ratings — rating hard cards as 'Good' prematurely just pushes the problem further. If the queue is overwhelming, consider lowering the daily new card limit and increasing the review limit in deck settings until the backlog clears.

Can I use Voccle without a Google account?
